K2 had a wonderful time this week using Teach Me: Kindergarten.  They had great fun creating scenes with the reward stickers they earned when completing a level. It was a great way to reinforce the students' sight word development as well as their developing math skills!

Look What We Did Today!

The K1 students are loving the iPads!

Today we introduced Balloons and Caboose to the iPad group. Due to the small number of ipads we are taking turns and using them in small groups. The students thoroughly enjoyed applying and extending their skills.

Balloons has several game options - colours, numbers, and animals. The children read what colour, number, or animal to choose and then identify and select their choice(s). With Caboose they finish a pattern made of shapes. The colours and sounds of these games are appealing without being overwhelming. We look forward to exploring many more fun and educational apps.

Kindergarten is the best place to be!

Posted by: Ellen, Kindergarten Teacher
Hi VTT!  Kindergarten has been so excited to begin using the amazing iPads that have made their way to our classes. We work in small groups and have learned from Ms. Chatz how to properly handle and take care of them. Kindergarten 4 has been using a few of the many applications to practice printing. Each time we use them we try something new, adding to our growing repertoire of programs. Sometimes we work on our own and sometimes with a partner.  Kindergarten is truly the best place to be. We look forward to each session and are becoming more proficient with our iPads.

Talk to you again soon!

Kindergarten 3 Meets the iPad!

Posted by: Abbie, Kindergarten Teacher
"The iPads are here! The iPads are here!" screamed the children in K3. It was our first day using the new iPads in our classroom. Miss Melissa came in to show us how to use them and especially how to be responsible and safe around them. Miss Melissa showed us how to set the iPad up and where the home button was. We got to slide our fingers back and forth along the screen and were able to find the icons that we were about to use all on our own!

We were able to explore and practise on the touch screen while using Drawing Pad. We also used an application called Alphabet Tracing. We got to practise our printing skills by tracing the letters on the screen. It was much more exciting than using a pencil!

We will be using the iPads during our centre time. We will take turns each day and be able to explore the iPads and the different applications that are on them. Who knew Kindergarten could get any more fun?
