Class 2A and 2B were excited to be able to use the iPads in class. They were thrilled to see all of the educational apps at their finger tips. The first time they used the devices, they learned care and functions of the iPads and had some free play. They tried out many apps and discovered that the Math Bingo app was very good. They also tried various drawing apps and were able to use all the tools available in the apps to draw and create with ease. The last session we had with the iPads supported our science program. The task was to create a visual representation of a state of matter. They found various images of solids, liquids, and gases. They saved the images to the photo album and imported the images to an app called Strip Designer. I like how the students were able to complete the task very quickly and easily and were all engaged with the devices to support their learning. I found that the downside to the iPad is the inability to project the apps with the interactive projector. It was challenging to show step by step instructions with the screen being small and with glare. Some students complained about the glare and not being able to see. However, I think the iPads are wonderful tools that will support student learning for now and the future.
